Weaner Growth Performance
Hamish and Pip Smith from Ben Dhu Station want to produce 60kg weaners at the end of March and consistently wean 90%.
Tactics/Actions:
- Better feeding of first calvers
- Utilise lucerne mixes in summer for hinds/ fawns
- Keep Ist calvers separate through winter
- Spelling fawning blocks for mating
- Body condition scoring
Capital Requirments:
To achieve weaner groth performance, capital needs to be spent on developing native ground, additional fencing, plus a water scheme.
Outcome/Results:
Weaners will be weighed, and 1st calvers will be scanned.
