Increased Conception and Survival Rate

John and Mary Falconer of Clachanburn station, aim to increase conception and survival rate to sale from 88% to 94% by June 2016.

Tactics/Actions:

Subdivision of a large hill block
Increase stocking rate from 0.65 to 0.8 hinds per Ha on hill
Self feed pit areas established
Monitor hind condition pre rut and post winter (compare to scan)
Pre rut wean a target group of hinds (condition basis)

Change will be demonstraded by monitoring the following points:

1. A 1/3 will be pre rut weaned, 1/3 middle, 1/3 post rut, and all on same feed regimes. Then we can assess the variation in performance across these 3 mobs.

2. Change in survival to weaned numbers

3. Track % hinds below CS 3.0 pre rut
